Girl and Dolls House 1

I am a narrative painter whose work hints at surrealism. I love dolls’ houses. I find their echo of reality intriguing but slightly surreal. Although they started out as a means for the rich to show off what they owned in a miniature version, they have become a way for both adults and children to order a domestic environment, albeit a tiny one. The child here arranges furniture and this gives her control over her world. The bright colours and lines round figures relate to the art of illustration in children’s books, and there is a fairy-tale feel in the child-woman face.
